We’re here to help. Some of our most frequently asked Candles questions are below:
After the first burn, we always recommend trimming the wick before lighting the candle - it’s been pre-trimmed for the first burn, so this is the ideal length to trim back to. We recommend burning the candle for at least 1 hour to avoid the candle tunnelling, and a maximum of 3 hours for a complete melt pool.
Our candle vessel is made from electric-forged recycled stainless steel, considered by many to be one of the world’s most sustainable materials. It is crafted with a double-walled structure to heat the candle’s wax pool evenly. This helps enable the perfect burn and scent throw, while keeping the outside of the vessel cool.
Yes! Our candles are made with 100% plant-based, paraffin-free wax and 100% natural fragrance oils.
When designing the candle, we always had reuse in mind. We were never going to make a throwaway item - it had to be something beautiful, with a feather-light environmental footprint, that could be treasured as an object after the candle inside has burned away. So we hope very much you will find another use for it.
Here is a simple method to remove any lingering wax and prepare your candle vessel for its new purpose:
1. Let the candle cool completely, then place it in the freezer overnight. 2. The next day, allow the vessel to come to room temperature for about an hour. Gently turn it upside down and tap the base with the palm of your hand to dislodge the hardened wax. If needed, use the handle of a spoon to help ease any wax out. 3. If the metal base holding the wick remains, carefully remove it with a pair of pliers. 4. Finally, wipe the inside of the vessel with a damp, soapy cloth, until it’s sparkling clean.

Yes, our candles will be launched alongside our fragrances each solstice and equinox - that’s four in total per year, one for each new season. The candles share the same seasonal inspiration as the fragrances, but the blend of natural oils has been carefully adapted by our nose, Elodie Durande, to scent the home and burn beautifully - so your candle and perfume will feel harmonious together, but with subtle differences.
Yes. We always recommend reviewing the ingredients and taking a moment to smell the candle in different spaces of your home to get a sense of the fragrance. If it doesn’t feel like the right blend for you, you can return your candle as long as it hasn’t been lit.
No. Ledger members will need to decide whether they would like to keep the candle based on the scent of the candle before it is lit. This scent, also known as the cold throw, will give a good indication of the fragrance. If you decide not to keep the candle, it can be returned for a full refund.
The ingredients can be found on the authentication card that arrives with each candle.
The candle wick is a coreless, non-directional, flat braided wick with a special paper filament. It’s designed to decrease carbon buildup, reduce smoking and allow for a controlled burn.
